Again I did not get any response for my query. Looks like members here are more into GC stuff than other issues. Anyway as always, I contacted chennai consualte to learn more about my concern, here comes their reply. I hope this will be helpfull to someone wout their .

Dear Sir/Madam,
Thank you for your email.
Once you take a confirmed appointment, modifications in terms of adding a new applicant cannot be made. However, you may cancel your existing appointment and then apply together as a family. (The Consulate encourages applicants to schedule appointment together).
Please note that canceling your appointment for a second time would lead to deactivation of your receipt for the next 90 days.
Kindly note that the modifications on Q.No 1 to 14 in DS-156 cannot be made, either you need to cancel the appointment and schedule a new appointment or you could go ahead with your appointment and inform the consular officer of the same wherein the final decision would be that of the consular officer.
You can cancel your appointment only two times. After the second cancellation your HDFC Visa Fee Receipt is deactivated for 90 calendar days. You will not be able to book another appointment until the 90 days have passed.

Today I found out there was a soft LUD on my I485 application. I am not sure what it is. How can I find what is going on with my I-485 application. Befre that there was a soft LUD on my travel document which I file in 2007 after that I did not file that. I just want to know what is going on with my application. Please let suggest.
Probably it is the pre-adjudication. I had soft LUDs on mine and spouse's 485 for the last 2 days. Recently got my I-140 approved.

Hi Gurus,
I am in company A on H1B and doing H1B transfer to Company B.
Company B is saying that I can join the same day on which the H1B transfer packet is received by USCIS.
if the docs are delivered on SEP 01 2009 can I join on the same day, or I should join from SEP 02 2009
Get the receipt notice and join them.

We have the same situation. I am the primary and got my GC last July. Spouse still does not have it. We have a PD of Sep 2005 and 485 RD of Sep 2005. No idea what is happening. We also have contacted our Congressman, Senator, and done Infopass and SR. Our case was originally filed at VSC, transferred to TSC and is now at a "USCIS Office"

my wife is US citizen , applied for permanent residency (green card) almost 6 months back , my interview was 2 days back, everything went thru alrite, the immigration officer said at the end of interview , " your case been aproved, but we did not get the background chk from FBI , as soon as we get it we are going to mail you the green card "

Received the RFE today. It was asking for my birth certificate copy & translation. My lawyer says this is very common. For me this is stupid, they already got my birth certificate copy and the translation.

Hi All,
I sent h1b extension application to california center on june 22nd and my application is still not approved. My current visa was valid until July 30th. I need to travel to India on Dec 10th due to urgent reasons . Please suggest what should I do
1. Can I travel while my extension is pending?
2. Can I raise a service request to speed up the processing?
2. or Upgrading to PP is the only option?
I do have EAD and advance parole through my husband's GC application. If I use parole for travel what happens to my H1b visa and GC application filed through my employer. My visa will still be valid or not?
Please help...

One of my friend was in a similar situtation.His attorney filed h1 extension providng the proof that a previous labor application was denied and the new one has been filed and is pending . He was able to get his h1 extended for an year.His situation was far worse , he had only a month left on his h1.

3-4 days. These days they are fast on approvals. Best thing is to apply AP within 120 days range and apply EAD when 100 days away from expiry. Atleast you will get 2 years EAD and dont need to pay again.

I am on h4 visa now.It expires in Sep14,2011 .I have a company that wants to sponsor my H1 visa.the start date for the h1 visa would be 1st Oct,2011.
Does this mean that i will be out of status for Sep14-Sep30, will i have to file for my h4 renewal for that period.also,would it affect my new h1 petition.

u can file for a 3 year ext of H1 status under AC21 - This will enable u to continue in valid status while the retrogression eases if it ever will.
Also note that portability is allowed and u can switch employers during this period. u can retain ur current PD and use it for a later GC app if reqd
